Meet the Team

Doctors

Dr Ben Kay

FRCGP

I graduated from Southampton Medical School in 2001 and passed my professional exams in 2005, joining Harcourt in 2006.

As an experienced GP I enjoy family practice as well as having a special interest in dermatology.

Outside of Harcourt I work for Cardiff University and the Primary Care Dermatology Society (www.pcds.org.uk), both educational roles.

Access to NHS services is based on clinical need, not an individual’s ability to pay – I am proud to be part of something special.

Dr Rachel Clapton

MBBS, MRCGP, DCH, DRCOG

As an experienced family doctor with original training in children’s health, I have furthered my specialist interests in women’s health but enjoy all aspects of extending health care, supporting wellbeing and helping to navigate my patient’s needs.

Now more than ever we need to use the NHS wisely and our role as GPs is to help all our patients access the right care that is needed at the right time

Dr Julian Totman

MBChB MRCGP DGM DRCOG

I have worked in the local area since qualifying as a GP, previously as a full time GP Partner at St. Ann Street Surgery for 15 years. I am happily married and have three children and one Labrador! I enjoy various sports which keep me fit. I am committed to the continuity of care of my patients. My particular interests are care of the elderly; general medicine; sports medicine and minor surgery. I am also a keen GP trainer.

Dr Jacob Ressa

MBBS BSc. (Medical Sciences with Human Genetics) MRCGP

I find general practice endlessly fascinating and enjoy having the opportunity to get to know my patients over time. I am a board member of the Sarum Cathedral Primary Care Network, a collaborative project between Harcourt Medical Centre and Salisbury Medical Practice. I also have a supervisory role to the paramedic team that we share with Salisbury Medical Practice as part of this project.

I qualified from University College London in 2014 before completing further training to become a General Practitioner in hospitals and GP practices throughout Hertfordshire.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time in the outdoors, especially mushroom foraging, gardening and fell-walking. Other interests include cooking, classical history and biological anthropology. I am happily married and enjoying life with a young family.

Dr Lizzie Griffiths

BMBS, MRCGP

I qualified from Brighton and Sussex Medical School in 2013, and completed my GP training in 2019.

I have since worked as a salaried GP near Brighton. I grew up in the Salisbury area. I am delighted to be returning to the area with my partner to take up a post at Harcourt which allows me to return to be close to family.

I am particularly interested in preventative/lifestyle medicine and hope to empower patients to realise the impact they can have on their own health destiny!

In my free time I can often be found cooking and enjoy being active in many forms – walking, yoga & high-intensity interval training (HIIT) are the current favourites!

Dr Eleanor Bessant

BA BM MRCGP DRCOG DFSRH

I trained as a GP in the Salisbury area and joined the Practice team in 2011 – firstly as a GP Registrar and later as a salaried doctor. I job share with Dr Sleight and between us we cover the working week. I enjoy the variety and challenge of family medicine and I am particularly interested in mental health.

Dr Claire Sleight

MBBS, DFSRH

I trained in West London where I worked as a GP Partner for 7 years before moving to Salisbury.

I am a general family doctor. Due to family commitments I work part time and job share with Dr Bessant and between us we cover the working week.

My days at Harcourt Medical Centre are
Monday – all day, Wednesday – am, Thursday – am

Dr Sleight is trained to fit and remove intra-uterine devices/coils (LoC IUT)

Dr Victoria Sanders

MBChB, BMedSc, DRCOG, MRCGP

After completing medical school at Birmingham University, I returned to my roots in the South West to complete my junior doctor and GP training.

Part of this training was at Harcourt and I was thrilled to be offered the opportunity to join the Practice once qualified in 2019.

General practice appeals to my inquisitive, problem solving nature. I enjoy the wide variety of medicine it offers and that I really get to know my patients, and often the whole family as we at Harcourt proudly still are a list based Practice. I particularly enjoy Women’s Health and Children’s medicine.

Outside of work I enjoy exploring new walking routes with my young family, gardening, home improvements and photography.

Dr Louise Campbell

Dr Jessica Doe

MRCGP

After graduating from University and completing my junior doctor and GP training all in Southampton, I was delighted to join the team here at Harcourt in summer 2023.

I have always wanted to be a GP and feel passionate about family medicine. I think that continuity of care, through various stages of a patient’s life, is both very important and rewarding. I have an evolving interest in women’s health, particularly menopause care, lifestyle medicine & mental health.

Outside of work I moved to Wiltshire a few years ago and after a (lengthy!) house renovation am enjoying life here with my soon to be husband and our ragdoll cat!

I job share with Dr Szymankiewicz and work all day Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. I cover Avonbourne care home on a Tuesday afternoon.

Dr Kate Szymankiewicz

Dr Laura Buckley

MBBS BSc (Global Health) MRCGP

I qualified from Imperial College School of Medicine in 2013 and returned to my hometown of Salisbury for Foundation and GP training, which I completed in 2022 (having had my three children along the way!)

I did the final part of my GP training at Harcourt and am pleased to have stayed on in a salaried role, sharing a patient list with Dr Sanders and Dr Campbell. I also look after the residents of two Salisbury care homes. I enjoy the variety and challenge of general practice, and am proud to work for a surgery that strives for continuity of care with a commitment to patients being looked after by their named GP – I think this is better for patients and for doctors!

I have an interest in health inequality, mental health and substance misuse. Outside work I’m busy with my young family, am an active member of a local church and am a trustee for the excellent youth charity Rise:61.
